Meet this year’s Committee of the Law Students’ Debating Society of Ireland
After a great election campaign between the Diploma and Degree students of King’s Inns for the 2022–2023 Auditor of the Law Students’ Debating Society of Ireland (LSDSI), they elected Barrister–at–Law Modular 2 student Paula Cassidy on Monday, November 7.
Since her election, Paula has assembled a committee to support her in the LSDSI yearly activities. The committee is made up of students from the Diploma in Legal Studies and degree of Barrister–at–Law courses.
Auditor – Paula Cassidy
Paula Cassidy is a modular 2 student on the degree of Barrister–at–Law course at King’s Inns and aims to focus on Corporate and Employment law post studies. Paula previously attained a Bachelor of Civil Law from Dublin City University in 2014.
As a former Access student, Paula is passionate about shining a light on the pathway to legal education for students from socio–economically disadvantaged backgrounds. She currently works in–house in the Corporate and Securities space managing corporate entity compliance in the EMEIA and APAC regions.
Secretary – Síofra Collins
Síofra Collins is a full–time student of the degree of Barrister–at–Law course. She attained an undergraduate degree in Law and French from Trinity College Dublin and has a master’s degree in European Law from the University of Paris II Panthéon–Assas.
Student Officer – Rory Williams Doyle
Rory Williams Doyle is a second year Diploma in Legal Studies student. He attained his undergraduate in Computational Problem Solving & Software Development from DCU. He has a great deal of appreciation for the arts, having served as chair of an advisory board to Youth Theater Ireland.
Events Officer – Selina Switzer
Selina Switzer is a modular 1 student on the degree of Barrister–at–Law course and aims to practice at the Bar upon successful completion of her studies. She is a keen advocate and would like to specialise in criminal law.
Sports Officer – Gisèle Scanlon
Gisèle Scanlon is a modular 1 on the Diploma in Legal Studies course and aims to do the degree of Barrister–at–Law course and practice at the Bar upon successful completion of her studies. She is a devoted advocate and would like to specialise in international human rights and European Law.
Fundraising Officer – Darragh Reid
Darragh Reid is a second year Modular student enrolled in the degree of Barrister–at–Law course. Darragh is an immigration Consultant and has 5 years’ experience as a legal secretary with a focus on Medical Negligence.

The Law Students’ Debating Society of Ireland (LSDSI) is a student–run body originally formed as a debating society in 1830. Over the years, it has evolved and now represents all facets of student life at King’s Inns.
The LSDSI benefits from considerable support and direction from King’s Inns.
