Part of Culture Night 2023, on Friday, September 22, King’s Inns opened up our Main Building for free guided tours of the great Georgian building.

Oíche Chultúir / Culture Night is a national moment, celebrating all that makes up the richness and diversity of Culture in Ireland today, connecting people to cultural activities locally and nationally and aims to open up pathways to ongoing engagement. 

Take a guided tour of our magnificent Dining Hall, designed by James Gandon and completed in 1806 

Based between Henrietta Street and Constitution Hill in Dublin 7, The Honorable Society of King’s Inns is an independent educational institution renowned for professional legal education and training. Established in 1541, King’s Inns is also Ireland’s Oldest School of Law and one of Ireland’s significant historical environments.

King’s Inns is a key example of Georgian architectural heritage, featuring in films and television series like Penny Dreadful, Ripper Street, and Ordinary Decent Criminal.

  • Guided tours will take place between 5 pm and 9 pm and will last for approx 30–minutes.
  • To take a tour, registration is required via the Eventbrite link below. 
  • Please arrive at King’s Inns, the Main Building, 10 minutes before your tour starts. Access the building via the King’s Inns Park on Constitution Hill, Dublin 7.

Henrietta Street – Guided Walking Tour

Henrietta Street is a Dublin street to the north of Bolton Street on the north side of the city, first laid out and developed by Luke Gardiner during the 1720s. A very wide street relative to streets in other 18th–century cities, it includes a number of very large red–brick city palaces of Georgian design.

A guided outdoor walking tour will be offered for individuals who seek to learn more about the history of the prominent street.

14 Henrietta Street – Irish Sign Language: ISL Guided Tour

Duration of the tour is 75 minutes. This tour is an indoor experience however all windows and doors are open for ventilation, so please dress warmly and wear comfortable shoes. Please note there will not be a translation for this tour.

TU Dublin Grangegorman Histories

This Culture Night, TU Dublin will welcome visitors to the East Quad on their new campus in Grangegorman, with events taking place from 6pm to 10pm. Visit this new multi–disciplinary arts building which will be filled with exhibitions, performances, seminars and talks curated by the staff and students of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities. Based within walking distance of Broadstone and Smithfield, the Grangegorman Campus is a haven in the city centre with beautiful grounds for all to enjoy.

FUNDAMENTAL: A Series of Queer Storytimes 

Dublin’s dedicated LGBTQ+ centre, Outhouse presents FUNDAMENTAL, an evening of community collaboration through art and storytelling from a variety of artists and community organisations. In A Series of Queer Storytimes, each group has been invited to read material, be it historic or contemporary, from their respective communities in response to the theme of what queer culture looks like in Ireland today. Expect extraordinary tales from GCN, Small Trans Library and Sex Workers Alliance Ireland with more to be announced.

Bow Street Experience Distillery Tour

In 1780 John Jameson threw open the doors of his distillery on Bow St. Over 240 years later, the doors are still open – to friends old and new. Culture Night guests are invited to join them for a fully guided tour and tasting. Their Ambassador will show you around, take you back in time, and serve up an award–winning tour that includes stories, laughs, and a comparative whiskey tasting. At the end of your visit, you can enjoy a Jameson drink in the spot where it all began.

Four Courts – Tours and Live Music in the Round Hall

The Four Courts has been the historic centre of the law in Ireland for 250 years. Come along on Culture Night 2023 for a musical performance under the dome in the unique acoustics of the Round Hall and/or partake in a guided tour of the campus. Tours will run on the hour and tickets will be strictly limited.
